We don't have a lot of German restaurants in The Springs, but the ones we do have are pretty good. Eidelweiss is no exception. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside on the patio.
I knew exactly what I wanted - the same thing I ordered the last time I was here. It was so delicious, I couldn't wait to get my hands on another one. It's called baked brie en croute, and is much like a glorified hot pocket.
Basically, it is ham and brie inside a flaky pastry shell. It is served with cranberry sauce and a bowl of fresh fruit. I added a dab of cranberry sauce to each bite of the entree, and it was fantastic - they just go so well together, its hard to describe.
The only marginal upset I had today was that our service was just a touch slow - its almost like when your out on the patio, they forget about you - out of sight out of mind, I guess.
I've never had a bad experience at Edelweiss, and I love their food. Lunch prices are extremely reasonable, and the food is stellar. It's a cozy little place just off of South Tejon, and you very likely won't be disappointed.
