It is important to realize that there are two Hub restaurants in town, and they are not the same. Different owners, different menu, different prices, different servce. Same branding. I'm confused too. Just know that this review pertains ONLY to The Hub on Garden of the Gods (AKA: the good one.)
The Hub is a neat place. It's a car wash, that lets you sit down and eat while your ride is getting cleaned. Inside, it is a nice diner with lots of 50s decor. Spanning 3 walls is a huge mural that is a nice tribute to route 66. They also have a nice gift shop, with a surprising amount of good and useful car stuff stuff at reasonable prices.
You order at the counter. I ordered a half of a cactus burrito and a drink. Thankfully, it isn't made of cactus, but rather hash browns, chorizo, and egg. The half order is cheap - around 5 bucks, and is plenty for me. After placing my order, I dropped my number off at a table, filled my cup from the soda fountain, then wandered around the gift shop for a few minutes. I almost bought an LED flashlight, but I managed to control my spending urge. I got back to my table just as my food arrived - it looked delicious!
I wasn't disappointed. This burrito is really good, and the green chili its smothered in is terrific as well. The chorizo in the cactus burrito was a sharp contrast the the crap in the chorizo burrito at Las Palmitas last week. Perfectly cooked, and lots of it. Hash browns make a good food filler too - cheap and tasty. This is my favorite dish at The Hub, and I'm a little chagrined to say I've never ordered anything else here. I'll have to work on that.
My out the door total was $6.90. For a comfortably sized and delicious meal in a nice atmosphere, you just can't beat that anywhere.
