Whats The Difference Between A Burrito And An Enchilada? Fiesta Jalisco

Fiesta Jalisco is a relatively new Mexican restaurant on the northeast side of Colorado Springs, tucked away just south of the King Soopers on Powers and Stetson Hills. I ate here with my family, on Sunday afternoon.

After being seated, we were immediately brought a basket of chips, some salsa, and a small plate of... something else.

I asked the server what it was, and he told me it was marinated cabbage with cilantro. I tried it out, and it was great! It tasted kind of sweet, and added a nice flavor to the chips. The salsa was a bit thin, with lots of onions - overall, nothing special.

As I was going over the menu, I noticed that the descriptions of the "Fiesta Jalisco Burrito" and the "Fiesta Jalisco Enchilada" were nearly identical. They were the same, word for word, except that the burrito had 'special burrito sauce', and the enchilada had 'special enchilada sauce'. They were even the same price.

Curiosity piqued, I asked our waitress what the difference was. I was told: "the sauce". I had figured that much out all by myself, so I pressed on, and asked what was different about the sauces. She then told me that the burrito sauce was thinner, and had a tomato base, and the enchilada sauce was thicker. With that information in hand, I ordered the Fiesta Jalisco Enchilada with pork.

I gotta say, this was one of the best enchilada's I've had in a long time. The meat inside was very tender and delicious. I ordered mine with no rice, so they jammed it with beans. It was really good!

At one point during my meal, I was adjusting my plate, and I felt some dried up food on the bottom. It was on the rim on the right side. I told my wife, and she checked hers and found the same thing. We told ourselves that it was "probably" just the bottoms, then pretended like we hadn't noticed.

Overall, I liked the place quite a bit. Hopefully they were just having a "bad dish day". The food was great, and I liked the originality of the cabbage with the chips. The restaurant itself seemed clean, and the staff friendly.
