Bacon Makes Me Happy Conway's Red Top
Eaten by Richard

Conway's Red Top has been in the Pike's Peak region for around 60 years, and is a local favorite. Their signature entree is a HUGE hamburger. And I mean huge. They have other things, but the burgers are really why people go to Red Top. They had a brief flirtation with pies a few years ago, but unfortunately, that all seems to have gone away. One of the casualties of that fiasco was one of the best bakeries in The Springs (R.I.P., Pie Eyed Pies *cry*).

Anyways, we arrived, and were seated right away. Z and I decided to share an order of fried mushrooms. They were a perfect golden hue, and came with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. They were delicious, and obviously hot out of the fryer.

I ordered a whole Mike's Mushroom Top. If you get a whole burger, I advise passing on the fries. They are huge. You can order a half burger if you want, but the cost difference isn't very much, so you really feel like your getting screwed if you only order a half.

What can I say? Cheese, mushrooms, and lots of bacon piled on top of a huge burger makes for a very happy Richard. I can honestly say that I wasn't unhappy with any part of this experience. I'll come back to Red Top (and have for the last 15 years).
